Redefining Literacy in Grades 7-12 - Strategies for Document, Technological, and Quantitative Literacy

This resource kit gives schools both an understanding of the types of literacy that are necessary for success in our global economy and the materials to teach these new literacies to students. A summary of the latest research provides some perspective on technology as it relates to literacy, an explanation of the literacy skills that are required in the global and digital marketplace, and a competitive look at the need to teach students skills for document, technological, and quantitative literacy (DTQ). The kit is filled with strategies for teachers of all subjects to use in their classrooms immediately, including examples covering electronic and multimedia formats. The methods and tools will help schools better meet the needs of this generation of learners as we prepare them for an unknown future. A DVD presentation on the importance of teaching DTQ literacy and a CD with worksheets and handouts are also included.
