Meeting the Needs of Special Education Students

Since 2003, the Special Education Institute has assisted school districts and state education agencies in implementing initiatives focused on improving the performance of students with disabilities. This presentation shares what has been learned in the past 5½ years. What district strategies work best in increasing achievement for students receiving special education services and why? What dilemmas do districts face, and how do they resolve them? What are the most common missteps? A screening tool is shared so that viewers can evaluate where their own districts stand on the issues.
